Hello!
My name is Amanda Ennis. I am a Maliseet Native American and I just started learning this amazing art through my wonderful past mentor, Sarah Sockbeson. It all began with a school report and presentation for my college course at the University. Once I learned the rich culture and heritage I had inherited I felt compelled to learn this unique art and spread the knowledge and culture that has been passed down from generation to generation since the 1800's. I still have so much to learn which to me is very exciting. I began weaving on my own in march and had my first show at the 20th annual native American festival in Bar Harbor on July 6th 2013. I was lucky to meet such wonderful people and get my work out there! I currently have one basket being displayed at the Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor (the blue and natural porcupine medium basket, in the Diane Kopec collection: New Acquisitions 2013). (Tobique)This is such a great honor to me! I look forward to what the future holds, and hope you enjoy my work as I progress through the years!
Sincerely,
Amanda Ennis
